PPEC Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy with PPEC

Welcome to Children’s Rehab, a leading provider of Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) services in Florida. Established in 1991, our facility is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for children with complex medical needs in a safe and nurturing environment. As a PPEC medical daycare and PPEC physical therapy provider, we specialize in caring for medically fragile children who require skilled nursing care, therapy services, and other medical interventions throughout the day.

PPEC is a program that is prescribed by a physician and is designed for children who require ongoing medical care beyond what can be provided in a traditional daycare setting. PPEC facilities are required to meet specific state licensing and certification requirements in order to provide high-quality care for children with complex medical needs. In Florida, PPEC facilities must adhere to strict regulations and standards set forth by the state’s Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA).

At Children’s Rehab PPEC physical therapy is offered as a standalone service to non-PPEC children, and is also provided as part of the holistic care that children receive when they qualify for PPEC. Our team of experienced physical therapists work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs of each child. By integrating physical therapy with other medical services, we strive to improve the overall health and well-being of the children in our care.

In addition, we offer free transportation to and from our facility, making it easier for families to access the care they need.

As a PPEC facility, we provide comprehensive care coordination services to ensure that every child receives the individualized care they need. This includes personalized case management and care planning to address the unique needs of each child and family.

One of the benefits of attending our PPEC program is that children have the opportunity to socialize and interact with other children in a safe and supportive environment. Our program is designed to promote socialization and peer interaction, which can have a positive impact on a child’s emotional well-being and overall development.

At Children’s Rehab PPEC, all nursing services replace all home nursing care, which means that families can rely on us to provide the medical care their child needs without having to coordinate multiple providers. Who Our PPEC Physical Therapists Care For

At Children’s Rehab PPEC, we serve children who require specialized medical care and support, including those who need medication applied by nurses, tube feedings, tracheostomy care, and gastrointestinal tube care. Our experienced nursing staff are trained to provide the highest level of care for children with complex medical needs, including premature babies who are at risk of developing developmental issues.

We have a dedicated baby room with cribs, where infants are carefully monitored and watched at all times. Our staff are equipped to provide oxygen and seizure management, and are trained to respond to any medical emergencies that may arise.

We often see an overlap between children who meet the qualifying criteria for PPEC physical therapy care and those who have developmental delays, physical disabilities, or learning disabilities. For many of these children, physical therapy is an essential component of their overall care plan.

We care for children with a wide range of conditions, including genetic disorders, respiratory disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, post-transplant or surgery recovery, metabolic disorders, developmental delays, cerebral palsy, visual impairment, hematologic diseases, and premature births. Our interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals work together to provide personalized care that addresses the unique needs of each child and family.

Who Qualifies for PPEC

To qualify for PPEC services at Children’s Rehab, children must be between the ages of birth and 20 years old and have medically fragile or complex medical needs. Children must also be medically stable, meaning they do not require ongoing hospitalization or acute care.

In many cases, children who already qualify for home health services may also be eligible for PPEC services. This can include children with chronic medical conditions, respiratory support needs, feeding and hydration needs, and other complex medical needs.

It’s important to note that each child’s eligibility for PPEC services is determined on a case-by-case basis, and eligibility requirements may vary depending on the child’s individual needs and medical history. Our team of care coordinators and case managers work closely with families and physicians to assess each child’s eligibility and develop an individualized care plan that meets their unique needs.
